Onota Boat Livery ("the Livery") is nestled on the north shore of Onota Lake  (the largest lake in
Pittsfield, MA and the second largest lake in the Berkshires).  Back in the 1920's it was little more
than a shack that locals went to for live bait and worms.  The prior owners purchased the property
in the mid-1970's and constructed a more substantial building.  They began selling tackle and
boats, and gave the business its current name.

Tom and Paula Dailey bought the Livery in 1991 when Tom left his 25-year career as an electrical
engineer with General Electric.  He'd been around boats his whole life, so selling and servicing
them came quite naturally.  He was doing very well, until the building burned down (to the ground!)
in early 1994. With patience and perseverance, he rebuilt the building, adding considerably to its
size and inventory.

Paula, a CPA and former finance manager with KB Toys, joined Tom full-time in 2002.  Although
she'd done the "back office" work prior to that,  eliminating her corporate job let her spend more
time fine-tuning the retail end of the business and getting to know the customers and service staff.

The Livery currently has 2 full-time mechanics (Ken & Roger) who both came on board in 2000.
Ken has over 30 years experience with marine engines of all kinds.  Roger had years of automotive
mechanical experience which he quickly translated to marine applications.

Jim is the Livery's "all around man."  Among many other things, he helps run the counter and
maintains the facilities.  And if you're renting a boat, it'll most likely be Jim to get you ready to go
(and help when you get back!).

(Thanks again, Jason!)
Last, but REALLY not least, is the Dailey's sweet and faithful Susie (a purebred
Golden Retriever).  When she's not snoozing next to the bait machine or wood
stove, or playing ball, or "fishing" under the docks, she's ready to greet her
customers with a smile and a wag!
